You can’t put me on a ship at that age and not expect me to love all things mechanical. Hahaha. Yes, that poser is me when i’m little less than a year old. And I know its been awhile since I’ve been tagged by @yam_hp. But since I’m free now… here goes.
1. I turned 21 on 12.12.12
2. I’m the only child though most say i dont act like one. Good or bad, you be the judge.
3. I’m like an extrovert who’s secretly an introvert. If you get what i mean.
4. I love fast cars but it’s not like i can afford it. Haha.
5. I like thrills but my mum dont like me too adventurous so I try to not anger her
6. I would love to take on scuba-diving license and roam the underwater world hopefully by 2020.
7. Yes, I love to swim and almost all water sports. Always at peace when I’m in the water. Doesn’t work for showers but baths do. Hahaha. Maybe a bit too much info. Oh well.
8. I love how free dolphins are in the ocean so stop trapping them.
9. I know I’m petitie but I bowl.
10. Yes, I do have my own set of bowling ball, shoes and guard.
11. I use a 11 pound hook ball.
12. And my average score is about 180 but its been ages since I bowled.
13. I dont club but I do drink.
14. My colleagues peg me as a very good drinker but nahs, I’m not THAT good. 15. Most say I’m a good girl.
16. My HTHT buddies are mostly guys except for Sarah
17. My mum is my best friend and we can talk about everything though we might end up shouting at each other. Hahaha.
18. I love food and I love to eat. Cafe-hunting or just exploring, count me in. ((:
19. I eat alot but so far, I’m still the same and that pisses my girlfriends off
20. Some of my friends call me ‘bottomless pit’ and you know who you are.
And finally I’m done with 20. Hahaha. Frankly, I really dont know what started the trend. And i know most have already completed. Just give it a try if you havent. Pretty interesting to actually think about yourself and figure yourself out all over again. #20factsaboutme #random #tagafriend

How to keep your motivation going when someone intentionally slams you down?

So I had a rough day at work. Who hasn’t had a rough day before right?

Today at work, I failed to check a liner printed on the meeting materials before the meeting. So technically, during the meeting, we each took a minute to correct it.

So after the meeting, my superior - the assistant team leader that has never acted like one before - called me into another room with my other colleague. And he started his ‘lecture’.

ATL: Why wasn’t the materials checked before the meeting? We received it in advance right?
Me: Yes, I failed to check it.
ATL: So why didn’t you check it?
Me: Because I shared this information yesterday to the respective persons and I assumed it will be right. “Assuming” is my fault.
ATL: Do you know how much cost you wasted? Each person (about 20pax in the meeting) wasted 1 minute of their cost, thats 20minutes of COST in total. Can you take more responsibility in your work?
Me: Yes, I will.

I told myself to shut up and just say yes. I know this is very backbone-less but thinking like an adult, I didn’t wanna tarnish the work relationship. So, I just nodded and agree - since it is indeed my fault anyway.

I know this might sound ridiculously silly but… there is a kid in everyone so please let me put this out there. Hahaha. I was holding these comments really hard when he rebutted. You see, ATL actually goes for a smoke break every 2-3 hours for approximately 10-15mins. So technically, he wastes away at least 30mins of his work time daily for his own personal pleasure. Now, what about this cost? His salary is far more than mine and this is on a regular basis. So, can he justify this cost? Is this cost worthwhile? I know you must be thinking, one’s work and one’s personal and I shouldn’t be comparing but seriously, since he is taking work time for smoke - besides the 1hour breaks we get daily - this should at least support his work right? Besides the fact that he comes back into office smelling strong of the smoke cologne, I don’t even think there is any improvement in his work efficiency because day in day out, he comes in earlier and ends work later than me. Even if he has more tasks to complete - which I don’t think he has - he should still complete them by the time I end work. So does the smoke break help improve efficeency? No… Then how should we justify this cost? Hmm…

Anyway, takeaway for today - back to the subject title. I think it is important to believe in yourself and admit your mistakes. When you do that, you see the truth in what you’re doing and it will help you stay in balance. True enough, you might not be motivated if someone intentionally nitpicks but it is through these people that you grow into a better person. I’ve learnt my lesson today - hard and cold - and as much as it irritates me to admit, I will be a better person because of this. To prove my own worth and to shut him up for good. This should be the positive motivation that keeps you going!

You’re always good to go with #NIVEAsg #IntensiveMoistureSerum

SampleStore Review: Nivea Body Intensive Moisture Serum

I received this package from SampleStore approximately 2 weeks ago.

And till date, I have been using this product every night (diligently, I might add). Except for the 2 nights that I was abroad.

Basically this product says to improve 10 skin problems:
1. Flaky
2. Itchy
3. Uneven
4. Scratched
5. Rough
6. Cracked
7. Stressed
8. Dull
9. Peeling
10. Tight

I don’t have all 10 problems but I do have dull and tight skin. So, did it help to improve my condition? Yes, I think so. Do compare the before and after pictures below.

Before skin was a bit stretchy and tight. And, I felt it was a little dull. After 2 weeks of night application, colour was slightly better and I can feel my skin less taut.

Smell of this product is like any other NIVEA products. Somehow, all NIVEA products seem to smell the same - or similar. So, it’s a good plaus point. With so many properties, the smell of the product is still similar and easily acceptable for everyone. This moisturizer also has an SPF effect which I believe you should be able to use it in the day. I’m pretty much lazy in the mornings so I skipped this step. But this moisturizer is not sticky nor too oily so it should be great working as a day lotion as well. Do try it.

Another thing I like about this is the tube packaging. I like how the cap is made. Because this lotion is so light and milky, the concise cut on the cap makes it easy to handle and there is literally no-mess each time after application. There is no need to clean the cap each time after use so that it does not clog up.

Sorry for the blurry photo but what I meant was the extra care they took into the packaging.

Lastly, read more about the product here.

Currently, I believe this item is out of stock in SampleStore but you could always try your luck. You might also like to participate in the Instagram contest by Hasttagging #NIVEAsg #IntensiveMoistureSerum to win prizes. I took mine like below:

Just write 1 word that best describes what NIVEA Intensive Moisture Serum has done for you and wala, you’re good to go!

Do check this out at all leading personal care stores and supermarkets, including Watsons, Guardian, Cold Storage, NTUC Fairprice and other major retailers.

Cheers!

LONGGG post from Kuala Lumpur!

Yes, I am traveling for work again and this time, it is still KL. Similar place, similar people. BUT, there is always something different each time.

Today is my first time at the new Low Cost Carrier Terminal - previously known as LCCT - now known as KLIA2. KLIA2 actually stands for Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2. So anyway, I arrived earlier than schedule and there was a sheltered walkway. If you recall in LCCT, it was always subject to good weather. Because be it rain or shine, you need to walk the walk to get onto the plane. But this time, it was totally covered. Then again, I was damn lost! I swear it was like a huge space with endless roads. Somehow, I found my way to the immigrations - which I might add, looks nothing like immigrations checkpoint but more of those check-in counters that you normally see outside immigrations. Nonetheless, got the passport stamped and all ready to go. Then again, it was walk after walk till I could get to the lift to go to L1 where the taxis are. And when I got to L1, it was pretty easy to locate the ticket taxi counters. Got my ticket and went on my way.

When I board the cab, I met a funny uncle. Or should I say sad uncle. The moment I got onto the cab, he asked why I was here. So I said it was for business and that I am going to the shopping mall to meet someone. He then continued, “is it someone you love?” Erm, okay. If you meant loving my job, then yeah, maybe I love May because I need to see her and confirm details of tomorrow’s opening because the performance of the opening affects my bonus and who doesnt love money? Hahaha. Yes, I am digressing. So he started mumbling to himself and all of a sudden, he asks, “How do you close facebook ar? My wife, I called her and scold her just now. I tell her she must close her facebook NOW. RIGHT NOW.” Well, uncle’s words might not be in good sentences but I swear he said ‘close’, ‘facebook’, ‘right now’. And I got a little curious as to what got uncle so mad. So I can’t help but ask. Why does she need to close her facebook? He then mentioned that she has been communicating with this uncle and that it needs to stop. They have children, one girl one boy (I might add), and it could change things between them. Maybe from together, they will be separated. Okay, I really didn’t know how heavy this was going to get and I started regretting asking because I didn’t wanna probe into other people’s lives and what’s more, uncle told me his wife cried when he scolded her this morning. But what surprises me, or rather, what changed my mind was when uncle asked if he could make things better with his wife and how he should do that? Warms my heart that he is still thinking of her no matter what set-back they are coming across. And as a food lover, I told him, bring home her favourite food, and speak to her nicely. Well, at least the food might give the right setting that he’s in apology mode? I don’t know. I thought it was a good try. And after all that drama, I arrived at my destination and wished uncle good luck before alighting.

Then came work and work… well, nothing much to be elaborated on but there’s LUNCH. Or brunch! Hahaha. Cause we ate at 1130, and I ate this…

And this…

My main course looks like the regular eggs benedict with smoked salmon but it’s actually paired with hashbrown on the bottom instead of a muffin. Yummy. Although, I have to say, the smoked salmon is a little bland. I think you can see from the colour. Overall, I’ll give it a 4/5! And the cake… It was so yummy. I couldn’t resist ordering after spotting it in the display cabinet. Cake wise, I’ll give it a 4.5/5! A little room for improvement is to make the centre creme slightly sweeter. Now, it’s just bland and very dependent on the meringue creme on top.

Last but not least, where… This sweet cafe is located at Empire Shopping Gallery.

And it’s called, Jibby & Co.

That’s how the menu looks like. And you will love the interior, I think. Well, I DID. So, here goes.

Notice the black shaft by the left hand side? Well, I call that the ‘food lift’ because the kitchen’s on the ground floor and this cafe is a loft type cafe. So once the food is ready, it will be placed in this lift and ‘lifted’ up to the upper floor. There will be staff stationed on the upper floor always so that it is easy for customers to get their attention.

2nd, look at the old school fan and warehouse style ceiling.

Okay, I admit. I was trying to get an artsy shot of the fan like everyone else. But obviously it failed, though it has its own uniqueness.

3rd - The furnitures.

The glass wardrobe by the window looks really good. Good idea for my new room? Hmm..? I doubt you can see from this picture but the chairs are all unique. Antique (or not) and rustic.

Last but not least - Live life, eat cake.

Can you see that ‘vintage’ or ‘retro’ styled barber chair? Now, that’s what I’m talking about… HAHAHA. Idea for my room…

Anyway, I think I forgot to mention that the entire cafe sits right outside of Empire Shopping Gallery. And it is entirely - well, almost - made out of glass. It’s literally like a glasshouse or greenhouse - except it does not plant greens but cooks them.

Apologies for bad resolution. Had to take it from afar and zoom in because of the many oncoming cars.

After lunch was work as per normal and now, I’m back in the hotel resting and typing this super long post. Sorry folks, I know your eyes are hurting. Just one more photo to go…

My room at Holiday Inn Glenmarie Kuala Lumpur. Looks pretty good ya? But the lady at check-in was pretty rude and smile-less. Oh well, it could be a long day for her. So yeah. I’m gonna end here too as I gotta wake up bright and early tomorrow for the store’s opening. Do come by if you’re around the area and look out for UNIQLO on UG.

Artichoke, Singapore

I decided that I wanted some good food before my braces adjustment. So, with Diana and Grace, we decided to visit Artichoke on last Saturday. (p.s. my dental appointment was on Sunday). It is located somewhere in the bugis area, not too hard to find if you know your way around. Will include the address later.

So here’s the weekend brunch menu. We ordered the scrambled eggs and mushroom, and, smoked salmon pancake.

Okay, I don’t know much about how the scrambled eggs tasted but it looked really good. Sorry, I don’t have a picture here. But the smoked salmon pancake is really gooooodddddddd! Like, its both sweet and savoury cause the salmon is salty and the pancake is sweet. A unique combination. The pancake is really thick and yummy although it is not the soft fluffy kind. And the salmon, there are 3 huge slices of smoked salmon goodness. There comes a point where you think the salmon is too much for the pancake cause even when you’re done with the pancake, you still have salmon left. If you see the picture above, you can’t even see the pancake cause it is covered in so much yummy goodness! Oh right, did i mention it was topped off with egg mayo? I love egg mayo and the way they made it is really delicious too!

After we chowed down the mains, we ordered the meringue tarts from Overdough, right outside of Artichoke. The lady was really friendly and you could just take your pick and she’ll send them in for you.

So we ordered the Soursop and Passionfruit meringue tarts. I like sour stuff but for those that do not like sour food, you might want to  avoid these. Then again, among the 2 above, I prefer to Soursop one more. Felt that it was more unique and somehow, there was a overly-sweet aftertaste for the passionfruit one. Not a sweet person so… Soursop is the way to go! Hahaha.

That pretty much sums up the entire cafe experience. And, I am starting to dread the next day - braces adjustment…
